How does this differ from the standard premium pergola?

It shares the heavyweight timber sections, sculpted rafters, pedestal panels, curved braces and full notched build, and adds a double corner configuration with post section braces. Two rail depths at every corner instead of one, with additional bracing between the post and rail. The structural result is the most racking-resistant freestanding build in the range, which is what you need when a polycarbonate roof is on and the garden is exposed.

What sizes are available?

Fifty-one sizes, from 1.8m wide by 1.8m long up to 4.8m wide by 7.8m long. Bespoke footprints are available for dimensions between or beyond the listed range.

Does it need to be concreted in?

For a structure of this weight and specification, especially once a polycarbonate roof is on, concreting the posts gives a more secure fixing than bolt-down feet. Bolt-down feet work on hard surfaces and are fine for the frame without a roof, but once a roof catches wind this is a structure worth fixing properly.

Is the decking base included?

No. This version is the freestanding pergola without a decking base. The posts fix to an existing surface. If you need an integrated decking platform that arrives with the frame, the double premium with decking version includes it as part of the structure.

Will the timber stay the colour it arrives in?

The Rustic Brown or Light Green surface stain will fade over time — that is the nature of timber stain in a British garden. The pressure treatment inside the wood is what handles rot and fungal attack, and that stays in place for years. Reapply the surface stain every two to three years to keep the colour consistent. The structural protection does not depend on the surface coat.
