What makes the box version different from the garden or premium models?

The ends. The box build uses straight, square-cut rafter and runner ends rather than the sculpted profiles on the garden and premium models. There are no pedestal panels at the post bases and no curved corner braces. The result is a cleaner, more contemporary frame that sits well in a modern garden but does not carry the decorative detail of the other builds.

Which sizes are available?

Fifty-one sizes are listed, running from 1.8m deep by 1.8m wide up to 3m deep by 7.8m wide. The depth is the measurement from the house wall to the front post, and the width is how far the structure runs along the wall. Bespoke sizes are available for footprints that sit between the listed options.

How does it fix to the house?

A wall plate is secured to the house wall, and the pergola frame carries from there. The wall needs to be sound and load-bearing — solid brick, blockwork and rendered block all work well. The outer posts are set in concrete or fixed with bolt-down feet depending on the ground beneath them. Wall fixings are included with the structure.

Can I add a polycarbonate roof to this model?

Yes. Polycarbonate roof kits are available as an optional upgrade chosen at the point of order. You pick clear, opal or bronze sheets and either white or brown glazing bars. When a roof kit is selected, a five degree pitch is built into the structure so rainwater drains away from the wall. The roof goes on in the same build session as the frame.

Does the timber need treating after delivery?

Not immediately. The pressure treatment is already inside the wood and handles rot and fungal attack for years without touching. What fades is the Rustic Brown or Light Green surface stain, and that is worth refreshing every two or three years to keep the colour consistent. The structure does not depend on the surface coat for its core protection.
